Christmas in July with Violet

I’m a Wisconsin Girl and am thankful for the beautiful summer we’re having here this season. That said, as soon as we’re past the Fourth of July it seems as if Labor Day weekend is right around the corner and before we know it, it’s the holiday season!

Hopefully, most of us are looking forward to being able to entertain and host both family and friends beginning with Thanksgiving and ringing in another New Year. Violet’s birthday is December 10 so that will definitely be a party in our home!

Thinking of hosting holiday events often turns our thoughts to sprucing things up a bit! Here’s a wish list of our most popular simple requests to help client’s freshen up their homes aside from starting a remodeling project:

-Updating Paint Colors
-New Throw Pillows for Sofas and Chairs
-New Artwork and Accessories
-Holiday Décor from Fall through Winter
-New Dinnerware/Holiday Tablescapes
-New Furniture
-New Bedding
-New Carpeting and/or Area Rugs
-Updating of Light Fixtures

It’s not too early to have us help you resource all of the above! We all know that some items are taking a little longer to arrive to us these days, however, we have access to many vendors with many items in stock from bedroom furniture to window treatments. We find that planning ahead is key and we are well equipped here at Ann Kottler Home to help you do just that!

Once your home is feeling refreshed after a busy summer, it’s time to focus on a plan! Here are 8 tips for setting the stage for a beautiful and fantastic holiday season:

  1. Follow a Family Tradition, such as decorating with fresh poinsettias, or begin a new tradition of your own

  2. Honor the Style of Your Home

  3. Stick with a color combination which accents your space

  4. Set the scene with greenery

  5. Consider a monochromatic tone versus red and green; beautiful crystal, silver and metallic tones look lovely with fresh pine

  6. Repetition is Classic; for example, use the same pretty ribbon throughout

  7. Garlands on stair rails are a classic

  8. Seasonal scents set the stage from holiday cinnamon potpourri to pine scented candles

Let us know if you need our help to set the stage for a fantastic holiday season! In the meanwhile, we’re going to continue to be grateful and enjoy this beautiful Wisconsin Summer!
